Initial Thoughts
The first thing I thought upon encountering these two phenomenal strains from DC i-71 cannabis delivery crew, The Gift Givers, was literally, "Wow, this is some fire." In fact, both the Wedding Dancer and the Black Truffle were so good, once out of their respective bags, that I immediately took pictures of them so I could waste no time in rolling them up. ⏰
Appearance
The Wedding Dancer is extra frosted with milky white and starry trichomes. It's coloration consists of more shades of purple than green and this makes the trichomes stand out remarkably. This is also the case for the Black Truffle with it's very dark, nearly black coloration and white trichome coverage - though less trich'd out than the Wedding Dancer.
Structure
These buds are on the fluffier side and create the appearance of an oversized bag. This is a testament to the TLC that went into their post harvest storage and packaging.
Status
Fresh.
Aroma
The Black Truffle stands out here with an immensely skunked out, chemmy, and slightly piney scent that will invade any room you put it in. The Wedding Dancer is more along the lines of a super funky, creamy, and fresh Gelato with hints of dough, cookie, chocolate, and spice.
Flavor
Both are exceptionally exotic and delicious in flavor with nearly perfect alignment between flavor and aroma. The Black Truffle is notably Chem-like on the exhale while the creamy aftertaste of the Wedding Dancer is like the best Gelato and GSC combo ever.
Lineage
It seems the genetics of both of these varietals are closely gaurded secrets, but our guess is that the Black Truffle is a pheno of Truffle that expresses dark purple coloration. This would make it an indica-dominant cross of Zkittlez and Cherry Noir.
As for the Wedding Dancer, the team believe this to be a similar case where a super sexy cut of Wedding Crasher was selected and bred to maximize optimal traits. Wedding Crasher is a cross of Wedding Cake and Purple Punch that runs indica dominant.
Effects
With each of these options proposed to be leaning 60/40 indica-heavy we thought this should be a pretty even battle of similar effects. However, in reality the Wedding Dancer proved to be more cerebral and energetic than the Black Truffle, which seemed to carry a heavier body buzz. In either case, the potency is off the charts and the effects are long in duration.
Conclusion
Overall, both of these specimens were representative of exceptionally well cultivated, high-end exotic bud with gorgeous appearances and high potency. If forced to choose a winner I would have to give the edge to the Wedding Dancer due to its plethora of starry trichomes and my preference for energetic effects. To form your own consensus and victor I invite you to hit up The Gift Givers today and have each delivered to you for own battle of the buds. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
