SFV OG - The Garden

DC recreational cannabis storefront, The Garden, has this sativa-dominant hybrid cut of SFV OG on hand currently. Being familiar with this strain from numerous instances in the past, I can firmly say that this is the most exemplary batch of the San Fernando Valley OG Kush that I've ever experienced.

It was expertly manicured, and the bud development was top-notch in every way. The bright vibrant greens of these nug formations were swollen with resin glands and covered with rusty reddish brown hairs all over the place.

Just breaking the buds up to prepare for the grinder resulted in finger hash. The smells that intensified as I handled the buds consisted of a heavy pine and earthy, fruity aromas that were overripe and funky. The more I broke the buds up the stronger the smell became, and the unsticking of my fingers only further transformed the air around me into a smelling sensation that only a cannabis enthusiast would understand.

THC levels for this strain can range from the high teens into the twenties. It is my personal opinion that this example of SFV OG is also the strongest I've had, though I have no hard metrics or testing to prove this.

As I sparked the joint and prepared for the high to come to me, I exhaled a taste of pine and spice. It was heavy thick smoke that wafted away into the breeze, and I'm sure that a neighbor or two caught a whiff and wondered what I was up to. As it burned I noted the white ash and its evenness all the way through. This was a sign to me that the crop had been properly flushed and cured to near perfection.

The terpene profile of SFVOG includes Linalool, Alpha Humulene, and Beta Myrcene. Linalool is a powerful terpene which has been shown to have an effect on the serotonin receptor. This can help treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, and also help to combat insomnia as well. The Humulene, also a much-studied terpene, is said to have potential cancer killing properties. Finally, Beta Myrcene has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and sedative properties. Imagine what else we can learn about this strain and others with more research. Did someone say "time to reschedule"? Where you at Congress?!?!?

The effects I felt from this flower were very focused and relaxing. I didn't have any couch lock, as expected, but I didn't have an overt amount of energy either. What I did have was a clear headed high and a feel good body buzz that wasn't too heavy. As for other effects, I'm not sure about these rumors, but they say that because SFV became famous in the valley where they make pornography that it has a tendency to inspire, shall we say, bedroom activities. 🤫

If you're ready to give this legendary West Coast favorite a try, then head to The Garden today and tell them you’re looking for the SFV OG. Don't forget to let them know that you heard about it on Toker's Guide!
