Opals and Banonoze by Curio Wellness - Waave Dispensary (Maryland Recreational)

Updated: Mar 22

Strain: Opals and Banonoze

Dispensary: Waave

Market: Maryland Recreational

Overall Rating: 8.9/10

Lean: Balanced 50/50

Initial Thoughts

The first thing that I noticed about these Opals and Banonoze buds was the sticky residue they left all over my fingers. The terps come in at over 4% which makes this strain, cultivated by Curio Wellness, one of the most sought out options at Maryland recreational marijuana dispensary, Waave. After we burned a couple joints of it the spirit of Raffi must have overtaken us because we all spontaneously started singing, "I like to toke, toke, toke, Opals and Banonoze". 🍎🍌😂

Appearance

These buds look super exotic and have a fluffy, spongy structure to them. The greens and purples are darker in shade and contrast with the frosty white trichomes.

Status

Fresh, but starting to cure.

Aroma

A heavy apple forward scent that blends with an herbal undertone.

Flavor

A sour and tart apple-like taste.

Lineage

The Opals and Banonoze strain is a phenotype of Apples and Bananas, which is a four-way cross of Platinum Cookies, Granddaddy Purple, Blue Power and Gelatti that runs balanced at 50/50 on the indica/sativa spectrum.

Effects

Opals and Banonoze immediately put me in a spacey headspace after just a few hits and I succumbed to its intensely stoney high. However, as the initial rush dissipated, I experienced a surprising shift towards enhanced focus, particularly while multitasking various activities. It offered a fascinating contrast of effects, from spaciness to heightened productivity, making it a truly intriguing experience. Versatile enough for nearly any time of day.

Conclusion

This reminds me of a proper Zkittles cut, since its appearance is so funky and its aroma is, similarly, fruit-forward. The high potency and terpene levels helped it exceeded my expectations in aroma, flavor, and effects and I can’t wait to go back for more in the near future. In the meantime we'll probably just keep on passing it around, burning it down, and singing silly songs about fruit.
