Initial Thoughts
Cannabis is such an amazing plant not only in terms of medicinal benefits, but in the way it connects people and communities across the globe as well. Take legendary strain hunter Franco Loja of the Amsterdam based Green House Coffeeshop & Seed Company, for example, whose strains have been grown and enjoyed all around the world. Before his untimely passing (RIP) in 2017, Franco spent nearly 20 years bringing some of the best cultivars, including ones with lost landrace strain genetics, to the Amsterdam scene and Cannabis Cup audiences. Therefore, when I recently learned that Seed and Strain had cultivated Franco’s Lemon Cheese (aka Lemon Cheese V), I couldn’t wait to swing by the Cannabist dispensary here in Norfolk to check it out. After I picked up my 8th I was so excited to give this highly regarded strain a try that you could say I was cheesing all the way home! 😃🧀
Appearance
When I first cracked open my jar of Lemon Cheese V, I immediately noticed the spade-shaped buds were a bright, almost neon, green with cheddar colored pistils reaching for the heavens! They’re also glittered with amber colored trichomes, equivalent to a starry night sky.
Status
Dried, cured and stored correctly!
Aroma
Lemon Cheese 🍋🧀 is exactly what you’d expect it to be in terms of aroma. It’s extremely pungent with lemon and a gassy overtone of savory aged cheese! There’s also hints of sugariness in the background which helps to elevate the lemon cheese smell even more.
Flavor
In terms of flavor, Lemon Cheese says it all! With a very smooth, sweet and sour lemony inhale, and a pungent, cheesy exhale, this baby packs all the punch! And just like if you were to eat a piece of cheese, maybe grab yourself a glass of lemonade to combat the onset of cottonmouth this strain tends to bring.
Lineage
Lemon Cheese V, aka Franco’s Lemon Cheese, is a Seed and Strain sativa dominant hybrid cultivated by crossing Super Lemon Haze and Exodus Cheese. This specific strain was actually dedicated to Franco after his passing in 2017. It was his final breeding selection, as well as a cross of his two favorite plants.
Effects
The Lemon Cheese high is just as interesting as its aroma and flavor with elevated effects that slapped me right in the face! Of course, I should have expected it considering this blend’s parent strains, but the lemony scent reminds me of kids selling lemonade on the side of the road! As soon as you exhale that first hit, you’re filled with a sense of euphoria and pure happiness. It’s definitely a gigglier strain; however, as you lift higher and higher into bliss, you’ll start feeling more sociable and energetic, giving you the umph you need to engage in a conversation or finish your chores. Lemon Cheese is also perfect for those suffering from fatigue, depression (in smaller amounts), mood swings, migraines/headaches, and chronic stress thanks to its genius blend of terpenes!
Conclusion
From its terpene profile, to its parent strains, to its backstory, this strain really does showcase all the amazing ways the cannabis industry has evolved and grown over the years. Lemon Cheese V, aka Franco’s Lemon Cheese 🍋🧀, will always hold a special place in my heart and mind! Seed and Strain really outdid themselves with this one, and I’m so happy to add it to my collection! So, if you’re looking for a fruity, pungent, daytime strain that smells like it will knock you out, look no further than Lemon Cheese V at Cannabist right here in Norfolk! (It is also offered at Cannabist locations around the 757, so don’t let distance be the reason you miss out on this glorious strain.)
