Lean: Indica Dominant Hybrid |
Initial Thoughts:
Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian dessert, made from coconuts and served atop wedding cake to end the night on a sweet note. How fitting a name for this indica-dominant hybrid (available now from Exotic Organics) that will leave you as blissed-out and relaxed as a Honolulu honeymoon.
Appearance:
Pulling the flower out of the bag, it was difficult to tell much about the color, because these nugs were absolutely covered in trichomes. It was like a coconut had fallen out of a tree and spent an afternoon lounging around on the beach, and now it’s all covered in sand that stuck to the sticky, resinous buds. Except there's no sand, only trichomes and kief!
Structure:
The buds are spear-shaped and fluffy yet slightly compacted from (proper) storage. Soft and supple they break up easily and make for excellent joint rolling.
Status:
Curing but with low oxidation levels due to TLC.
Aroma:
A strong, sweet smell with fresh, earthy notes. Citrusy-fruity notes are present but less dominant. There’s a bit of a vanilla musk on the back end that had me licking my lips with excitement.
Flavor:
On the inhale, I found the taste of Haupia mild and subtle. I detected a sweet vanilla flavor, cut with a touch of pepper.
Lineage:
Haupia is a collaborative creation of California-based breeders ShoppingCarts415 and Mount Burnin. It's an indica-dominant cross of Lemon Cherry Gelato and Gelato #41, two strains which themselves are noted for their relaxing effects and decadent flavors. These traits are also very apparent in this offspring.
Effects:
With one hit, the effects were already coming on strong. It had been a stressful day at a new job. My back was hurting from hours in a cheap office chair and my mind was racing with anxiety. Soon, however, I could feel my back muscles relax as the tension slipped away. My thoughts quieted and calm washed over me. I spent the next few hours absorbed in a video game for the first time in ages. The relaxation of Haupia is paired with a sense of easy focus; there was no being distracted by mundane worries.
Conclusion:
I really enjoyed this Haupia flower and can't wait to get my hands on it again. Try some for yourself by hitting up the always kind, courteous, and punctual Exotic Organics today. Don't forget to mention that Toker's Guide sent you!
