Overall Rating: 8.5/10 |
Lean: One sativa, one indica |
Initial Thoughts:
Local DC craft cultivators Alternative Solutions (aka Alt Sol) are making it easier than ever to keep your stash organized and, in this case, already rolled. In fact, they've rolled out 5 and 10 packs of pre-rolled joints containing their fine flower and according to the best time of day to partake in them - day or night. They've even branded the cylindrical tubes as "Great Day" and "Good Night" to help keep things straight. If you've ever accidentally burned down on a high energy sativa right before bed then you know just how useful these types of labels can be. 😳
Appearance:
These aren't just any pre-rolls either. Sure there are different sizes and sexy, colorful packaging, but you should also know that the contents of these packs is fresh from recent harvests. That freshness can be easily discerned by the bright green color of the ground bud innards. The pre-rolls' paper is also still pliable and show no signs of going stale.
Aroma & Flavor:
If you haven't tried Alt Sol's flower and you live anywhere near DC then you need to. They've gone to great lengths to source top-tier genetics and the benefit is evidenced in the phenomenal aromas, flavors, and effects produced. In this case, these pre-rolls aren't quite as pungent as the newly harvested batches are, but the aroma is still righteous nonetheless. The Fuel Biscuits, especially, has its well-known skunky, gassy, yet somehow savory aroma and flavor that will make your mouth water every time. The Fog Jam, on the other hand, has a spicy and fruity essence to its aroma and flavor. Both smoke extremely smooth and have magnificent aftertastes as well!
Lineage:
Fuel Biscuits is an indica dominant cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Gelato that runs around 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio. As we've reviewed before this strain is very pungent and highly euphoric in nature.
Fog Jam is a sativa leaning hybrid cross of Fruit of the Gods (F.O.G.) and Nepalese Jam that we've also had the opportunity to write about and find spectacularly delicious. It's known for its combination of uplifting body buzz and heady high.
Effects:
Fuel Biscuits, being the contents of the "Good Night" labelled cylinders, is certainly more calming and relaxing than the stirring Fog Jam. It packs a tremendous body high that seems to come in waves and can cause some disorientation - though the delightful kind. I don't get too much couch lock from it, but others have noted its ability to induce a sedative state.
A great daytime toke - hence its inclusion in the "Great Day" branded packaging - this Fog Jam is replete with heady headband-like cerebral high upon initial onset and energetic, driving euphoria. It's a perfect one to help focus on tasks at hand while also feeling fantastic while doing them.
Conclusion:
I plan to keep several 10 packs around not only for convenience sake, but also because I just love getting my hands on these two particular Alt Sol strains whenever I can. To grab some Great Days and Good Nights for yourself just head to DC medical cannabis dispensary, Takoma Wellness Center ASAP. Don't forget to tell them Toker's Guide sent you!
