While you may or may not have been looking the DC medical cannabis scene has been getting better and better with improved access and customer experiences all around. Among the flower meds they have available we stumbled upon one that we've been hearing really good things about for a while, but not yet reviewed. She caught my eye looking so beautiful and recently chopped there on the shelf, I figured I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't share her brilliance with you all. So, without further adieu, I bring you Gelato Cake locally cultivated by District Cannabis.
An indica-dominant hybrid that runs roughly 70/30 on the indica/sativa ratio, Gelato Cake is a cross of famed Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake. We've been big fans of both these inputs and other Gelato Cakes in the past, but this batch has been especially delightful. It's trichome levels are off the charts and still frosty fresh - a testament to the benefits of local cultivation.
Creamy, peppery, skunky, and with a bready finish is how the Toker's Guide crew has collectively summed up the flavor and aroma emanating from these buds. It's not too far off, actually, from the bowl of Gelato #33 and Wedding Cake we mixed just to make the comparison. I would say what differentiates the Gelato Cake is a richer flavor without any loss of smoothness.
With effects that are notably euphoric even for a Gelato crossbreed, you may find yourself highly relaxed and ready to chill as the buzz truly sets in. Yet, at first, expect a rush of tingles to your head and the need to fist pump as you exhale given the awesomeness of the experience. As such, we have to mention that we prefer this one in the bong, but it rolls really nicely too - an all around excellent evening toke whatever the method.
